RECENT MEETING REVIEW
The DCRTA winter meeting was held at noon in the Terrace Room, Willow Brook Christian Village, on December 6, 2019. Members arrived early to donate, view, and bid on the large number of varied Silent Auction items on display. The group was generous in their donations and bids and the auction raised nearly $600 that will be used for our Habitat for Humanity project plus other philanthropic activities. After the opening pledge of allegiance and prayer, members enjoyed a delicious meal. The Hayes Singers, under the direction of Dora Gillis, presented a half hour program of holiday music. The hospitality theme this month was Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. The Hospitality Chair shared her 1939 copy of the original Rudolph book written by Robert Lewis May and then read several pages to the group. Members received treats in reindeer bags and prizes were given to those whose red lollipop number were drawn. DCRTA also provided chocolates and frozen desserts. New officers were unanimously elected.
This month monetary donations and food items were collected for People In Need of Central Ohio.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: DCRTA has partnered with the local Habitat for Humanity chapter. Use the Links button at the top of this page to access their website. It provides members with opportunities to assist in Habitat's work.
Local chapter involvement and photos above:
In the photos above Carolyn Kneisly, President of The Delaware County Retired Teachers Association, presents books to children of three of the most recent Habitat for Humanity of Delaware & Union Counties homeowners. Both homes are located in Delaware.
History: In 2016, after speaking to local Habitat officials who indicated they needed books for children of home owners, DCRTA embarked on a group project to gift a book to each child moving into a new Habitat house in Delaware County. For the past few years DCRTA has purchased age appropriate books focused on homes and shelter for various age levels. Recently members have augmented our supply by donating books at meetings. DCRTA is proud to join other chapters across Ohio in this collaborative effort to help those in need.
